I created it with couples in mind, based on all the lessons we learned and the mistakes we made during our own IVF journey. Throughout our experience, we faced many ups and downs. My hope is that this journal helps you avoid some of the pitfalls we faced, and that it brings you a more connected, peaceful, and hopeful Two-Week Wait.BACKGROUND: After many years of infertility and its related surgeries, special procedures, and specialist visits, my husband and I began our IVF journey in Spain in 2023. What we thought would be a simple, one-trip process turned into over two years, four egg retrievals, three resulting embryos, and six different visits to Spain. Our first transfer in June 2024 didn’t work. During that transfer I was stressed, jet-lagged, and overwhelmed—focusing so much on my physical body that I forgot to care for my heart and mind. I tried to control every aspect of the transfer and I chose to listen to and believe my fears. It was a very difficult two week wait, during which I was not mindful or kind to myself.By the time our second transfer came in January 2025, I knew I had to do things differently. I started meditating and doing yoga weeks in advance. I saw a therapist, started acupuncture, simplified my life, and practiced gratitude. Instead of being scared to move after the transfer, I went for long, slow walks every day after—I let myself stand barefoot in the sand and I practiced stopping to feel the world around me. I practiced gratitude, listened to my body, repeated affirmations, and chose peace over fear.That shift changed everything for me.This journal is a reflection of what helped me get through the two-week wait—not just with hope, but with a sense of joy and connection. I created it to help you find calm, purpose, and maybe even beauty during this intense and tender time.
